Searching Newspaper Databases at Elephind • Elephind <www.elephind.com> was originally launched in 2012 as a multisite search engine for newspapers. At the site’s peak, users could search more than 3 million newspapers, allowing them to efficiently comb through the holdings of several libraries, universities and other institutions at once. Taken offline in 2023 due to budgetary concerns, the site now has new life with a different search model and other new tech—plus 47 million pages in its scope as of this writing.
