Gr 9 Up-Osawa (Spider-Man: Fake Red) takes on the wildly popular "Star Wars: The Mandalorian" series from the Disney+ streaming platform. This manga, translated by Caleb Cook with retouch and lettering by Brandon Boviat, covers the first episode of the first season of the television show. In an almost frame-by-frame remake, the audience follows the Mandalorian as he completes a bounty hunt. He then receives a mysterious job offer, and after meeting with a former Imperial officer who provides some more details, the Mandalorian heads out for his quarry. The only information he has is the last-known location and that the target is 50 years old. Upon arriving at the planet, the overarching story of the manga is revealed along with The Child. Osawa's art is realistic and matches the faces and locations to the TV series. The first few pages are in color while the remainder is in black and white. A fun additional treat for fans is the brief glossary of the weapons, ship, and other aspects from the story. VERDICT Fans of the series will embrace this interpretation of the bounty hunter and his new companion. Highly recommended for any manga collection.-Jason L. Steagall
