Therese Plummer's warm, conversational narration invites listeners into the lives of the small-town folks of Grace Valley, California. Plummer gives fitting voices to the many characters, beginning with Dr. June Hudson, who is happy to finally have the help of a new doctor in her small clinic. But she's wary of his uncertain past. And there's plenty of scandal, gossip, and a little danger when an undercover DEA agent arrives to investigate a marijuana operation in the surrounding mountains. Plummer perfectly voices most of the characters--from quirky older women to crusty old men--adding interest to the plot. Some of the younger men's voices sound a bit forced, but overall Plummer's narration brings the story and its characters to life. M.M.G. (c) AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine
